I thought a good place to start with my blog was with the panoramic photograph at the top of this page. When I was setting up the site, I was looking for a good image in the right dimensions, and I came across this one from when I was travelling in Austria. I will leave the photography discussion to another day, however I want to talk about Microsoft ICE.
Microsoft ICE is one of the great pieces of free software you can get on the Net. Forget about everyone else slagging Microsoft – this is great software and they should be commended for developing it and making it available for free. Take a look at the link above for more details and to download the software for your PC. I have taken lots of photos and stitched them together into a panorama like the one at the top of this page. It is easy to use and gives you great results with little or no skill. The photo on this blog was stitched using 25 images that I snapped on the day.
One down side of Microsoft ICE is that this software only works for PCs, not Macs (I guess it makes sense when you think about it). I have recently moved to a Mac and have not found anything comparable as yet, so let me know if anyone else knows of something as good and as free 🙂
There are lots of examples of what it can do with Microsoft ICE on YouTube.
