You may have seen the press in recent days, and today is launch day. In case you don’t know what it is, it is a streaming music/audio service.
There are three versions available.
- a free streaming service (with ads)
- an “Unlimited” streaming service without adds
- a premium service where you can download all the music you want to your iPhone or other device.
You can change between services at any time, but be aware that you don’t get to keep any music you download with the premium service after your premium subscription lapses.
I was able to access the US version of Spotify yesterday so I have had a day to play around with it already. I can tell you it is fantastic. I was able to install it on my iPad and using AirPlay Mirroring, I played all the music I wanted through my Apple TV/Stereo. I have decided to go all out and pay for the premium service. For $144 per year, I can access all the music I want, including my old favourites and all the new stuff. I spent last night browsing various artists and songs that I would never purchase myself (until now) and I was blown away at what great music is out there. What I really like about this, is you can graze on a broad range of music, depending on how you feel.
Look up Spotify and give it a go.
